  Four legs brace with an X stretcher that you can see from any seat. The base stays open rather than boxed in, which keeps the table feeling light even though it is solid wood.

• Unfinished rubberwood

  Top, shelf, and base are solid rubberwood left unfinished. You see the natural grain and color variation. Sand lightly and seal, stain, or paint if you want a finished look later; as shipped it is raw wood ready for your finish.

• Assembly when it arrives

  Assembly is required. Plan on one person with a screwdriver attaching the legs and shelf to the top with the included hardware. Clear a floor space before you start; the finished table is square and about 70 pounds.

• Clearance and legroom

  The open shelf sits about 11 inches below the top, and there is about 3.5 inches from the shelf underside to the floor. Sit close and your legs clear the apron; the open base leaves legroom toward the X stretcher instead of a solid skirt.

  The table weighs about 70 pounds assembled and is rated for up to 200 pounds on the top. Use coasters for drinks and wipe spills so unfinished wood does not mark. It stays put when you set down a tray or a board game.

• Care for unfinished wood

  Dust with a soft dry cloth. For sticky spots, a barely damp cloth and a quick dry are enough. Avoid soaking the unfinished surface. If you later seal or stain it, follow the finish maker's care notes instead.
