The metal trim plate is the shower control, with a temperature control knob and a shower outlet activation button that aligns with the plate when off.

Thermostatic technology lets you maintain consistent temperature and flow control. Press the outlet once and it pops out as a knob for water flow adjustment; press it back in and the water turns off while the flow setting remains intact. The temperature knob has an integrated adjustable high-temperature limit stop. It is designed for use with select Anthem single-port thermostatic valves and requires a one-port thermostatic valve with integral volume control, sold separately.
