A pair of distressed-oak rubberwood slat-back side chairs, each 36.9 inches high, sold two to a carton.

The carton holds two side chairs, not one. Each chair is listed at 36.9 inches high, 18.9 inches wide, and 22.24 inches deep, so tape two of those rectangles before you order.

• Curved slat back

  The back is a curved top rail over three straight vertical slats, all solid wood, rising 19.4 inches above the seat. No fabric or padding anywhere, just joined wood front to back.

• Solid wood seat, tapered legs

  The seat is a single solid wood plank with a rounded, waterfall edge along the front corners rather than a padded cushion. Four tapered legs splay slightly and are joined low by an H-shaped stretcher for stability.

• Assembly, bring a screwdriver

  Assembly is required, and the parts are labeled for one person to manage, but a screwdriver is not included in the box, so have your own ready before you join the back, seat, and legs.

  This is a dining-height side chair, not a bar or counter stool: the seat height is 17.5 inches off the floor, sized to match a standard dining table height so your knees clear the apron.
