  The seat and low back are one curved scoop of cognac faux leather, stitched into horizontal channels that run straight across for texture. The back rises 10.75 inches above the seat, staying low rather than tall.

• Oak dowel, strapped rail

  Under the cushion, a light oak dowel runs along the seat rail, wrapped at intervals in black faux-leather straps rather than left bare. Four slim matte-black iron legs meet at a crossed brace low near the floor.

• Assembly, skip power tools

  Assembly is required, and one person can manage it; the tools you need are included, but the instructions say to avoid power tools, since over-tightening by hand is safer for the fittings than a drill.

• Spot clean only
