Six matte black bars cross at irregular angles from a single round canopy, each one lit edge to edge by integrated LED. There is no cluster of shades to dust and no separate bulbs to lose.

• Six bars, no two parallel

  Six slim matte black bars cross from a single round canopy, and no two of them run parallel. The result reads scattered rather than symmetric, closer to a handful of sticks than to a starburst. Tip to tip it measures about 39 inches.

• Integrated LED, no bulbs to buy

  The light is built into the bars themselves. There are no sockets to fill and no bulbs to buy, replace or match, so the fixture arrives ready to wire. The LED runs 3000K warm white, a soft tone close to a warm incandescent bulb.

• Dimming needs its own switch

  The fixture is dimmable from 10 to 100 percent, but only on an electronic low voltage (ELV) or TRIAC dimmer. A standard dimmer will not do it, and no dimmer switch is included, so buy one and have it wired in with the fixture. On a normal switch it simply runs at full brightness.

• Hardwired to a ceiling box

  This is a hardwired fixture, not a plug-in, so it wires straight into a 120 volt ceiling box behind the canopy. Nothing needs assembling, the bars arrive attached, and the mount itself is a screwdriver job, but have an electrician make the connections if you are not comfortable in a junction box.

• Set the drop at install

  Thin cables suspend the bars from the canopy, and you set the drop while mounting it. Shorten them to about 8 inches for a low ceiling, or let it hang as far as 59 inches overall above a table. Decide the height before you mount, since changing it later means opening the canopy again.

• Sloped and vaulted ceilings work

  Because the fixture hangs on cables rather than a rigid rod, it settles level under any pitch. Flat, slanted, sloped and vaulted ceilings all work, and the round canopy covers the box on an angled surface. Nothing about the mount needs to change for a slope.

• Dry-rated, ETL and cETL listed

  The fixture is ETL and cETL listed and rated for dry locations only. That covers a dining room, a stairwell, a bedroom or an entry. It is not damp or wet rated, so keep it out of a bathroom with shower steam and off a covered porch.

• What comes in the box

  It ships pre-assembled: the six bars, the hanging cables and the round canopy all arrive attached. The mounting bracket, an accessory bag of hardware and the install manual are included in the box. A dimmer switch is not included, and there are no bulbs to buy.

• Wiping and everyday care

  Wipe the bars with a soft dry cloth now and then. Dust settles on a slim horizontal edge faster than on a shade, and it shows against matte black. Skip solvents and household sprays on the finish. The LED is not user replaceable, so there is no relamping and nothing to open.
