• Hang it your height

  It hangs from a rod, not a chain. Downrods of 6, 12, and 18 inches ship with it, and overall height can reach 53 inches, so you can set the hang over a table or in a taller foyer.

• Damp-rated drum

  The listing is damp-rated, which covers a bathroom outside the shower spray and a covered porch. It is hardwired at 120 volts and is not a wet-location fixture, so keep it out of direct water.

• Standard A19 bulbs

  Each socket is a standard E26 medium base for an A19 bulb, 60 watts max. Bulbs are not in the box. Put dimmable lamps in it if you want the fixture on a dimmer.

• Hardwired to a ceiling box

  This is a hardwired fixture, not a plug-in, so it wires into a ceiling junction box behind the round canopy. Some assembly is expected and a screwdriver handles the mount, but have an electrician make the connections if you are not comfortable working in a junction box.

• Dimming takes two parts

  The fixture is compatible with a dimmer switch, which is the easiest way to take it from bright prep light down to a low evening glow. Neither the dimmer nor dimmable bulbs come with it, so buy both if you want that range. On a plain switch it simply runs at full brightness.

• What comes in the box

  The three linen-blend shades, the hand-forged steel frame, the round canopy and all three downrods are included, along with the mounting hardware. Bulbs are not included and neither is a dimmer switch, so order five A19 lamps before install day.

• Linen and metal care

  Dust the linen bands with a soft brush or a vacuum on its lowest setting, working around each drum rather than pressing on it. Wipe the rod and canopy with a dry cloth. Keep water and household sprays off the shade, since linen marks and will not clean up evenly.
