  The cone shade throws a focused pool of light exactly where the arm points it, brighter and more directional than an open bulb. Swing it toward a book or a reading chair for task light, or angle it up along the wall for a softer wash instead.

  This fixture is rated for dry locations: the bedroom, living room, entry, or hallway it was designed for. Keep it away from anywhere it could catch water or steam. A damp or wet space, like a shower or over a tub, is not what it is built for.

• Easy to clean and relamp

  Wipe the shade and arm with a dry or barely damp cloth to clear dust, and skip harsh household cleaners, which can dull the warm brass finish over time. Changing the bulb just means unscrewing the old A19 from the E26 socket and setting in a new one.
