• Cotton drum softens light

  The shade is an off-white cotton drum, about 16 inches wide and 10 inches tall. Light filters through the fabric and drops through the open bottom, so the glow is soft rather than a hard spotlight. The shade hangs from a swivel at the tip of the arm so you can tip it slightly toward a table or chair.

• Plug-in, no hardwire

  This is a plug-in floor lamp, not a hardwired ceiling mount. There is no junction box and no electrician visit. Unbox, assemble the stem to the base, set the shade, and plug the cord into a wall outlet. A foot switch on the cord turns the lamp on and off without reaching under the shade.

• Height and reach

  Overall height is 84 inches, and the arch reaches about 69.5 inches deep so the shade can hang over a sofa seat or the center of a small dining table while the marble base sits beside it. The bulb sits roughly 80 inches off the floor, which keeps the glow above seated eye level rather than shining straight into your face.

• One E26 bulb included

  One E26 medium-base socket under the shade takes a standard A19 bulb. A 23-watt CFL bulb ships with the lamp and is rated around 830 lumens; you can swap it for another E26 bulb up to that wattage if you prefer a different brightness. Pair with a dimmable bulb and a dimmer-compatible setup only if you want dimming; the built-in control is an on/off foot switch.

• Dry rated, UL listed

  This lamp is UL and cUL listed for dry indoor locations only. Keep it out of bathrooms, covered porches, and any damp or wet space. The dry rating covers a living room, bedroom, or dining area with ordinary indoor humidity, not outdoor use.

• Dust shade and marble

  Dust the cotton shade with a soft brush or vacuum brush attachment so lint does not grind into the weave; spot clean only if needed. Wipe the antique brass arm with a dry cloth, and clean the marble base with a slightly damp cloth, then dry it so water does not sit in the stone.

• What arrives in the box

  The carton includes the marble base, iron arm sections, the cotton drum shade, and one 23-watt bulb. Assembly is required: the stem mounts to the base and the shade seats on the arm before you plug it in. Extra bulbs are not included beyond the one that ships with the lamp.
