Four lights sit inside a three-tier beige drum, hung from an antique gold rod. Hardwired, damp-rated, and sloped-ceiling compatible, it takes standard A19 bulbs.

Four bulbs sit behind a three-tier beige linen drum, 23 inches across. Light comes through the shades as a soft wash, so the room reads lit without a cluster of bare lamps in view.

• Three stacked drums

  Three linen drums sit one under the next, each a little narrower, offset so you see the lit edge of all three at once. The top drum is 23 inches across and the shade assembly stands 16.05 inches tall. The frame under the fabric is steel in an antique gold leaf finish.

• How it lights a room

  Four bulbs sit behind the linen, so the light comes through the shades as a soft wash rather than four bright points. The bottom is left open, so it also drops a pool of light straight down onto whatever sits below it.

• Hardwired, so plan an electrician

  This is a hardwired fixture at 120 volts, not a plug-in one. It mounts to a ceiling box behind the 5.13 inch canopy, and assembly is required. You will want a screwdriver, a power drill, a utility knife and pliers on hand, and an electrician unless you are confident wiring a ceiling box yourself.

• Set your own hang height

  It hangs from a rigid rod, not a chain. Rods of 6, 12 and 18 inches are in the box, so you can set it low over a table or high in an entry, up to 52.5 inches overall from the ceiling. It is rated for sloped ceilings, so a pitched roof is not a problem.

• Bulbs and dimming

  Four standard E26 medium sockets take A19 bulbs at 60 watts each. Bulbs are not in the box. It will dim, but only if you fit dimmable bulbs and wire it to a dimmer switch, and neither of those ships with it.

• Changing a bulb later

  The bottom of the lowest drum is open rather than closed off with a diffuser, so you can reach a socket and swap a bulb from below without taking the shades apart or dropping the fixture off the ceiling.

• Damp rated and ETL listed

  It carries an ETL and cETL listing and is rated for damp locations, which covers a covered porch or a bathroom away from the shower spray. It is not a wet location fixture, so keep it out of anywhere it would take direct water.

• In the box

  The canopy, the rods and the shade assembly ship together and the whole fixture weighs 12 lb. Wipe the linen and the metal with a dry cloth when it needs it. The listing carries a 1 year limited warranty.
