Marnau Stibiden 2-Light Linear Island Pendant

Two metal cone shades hang on a 40-inch bronze bar. Hardwired, chain-hung, and dry-rated, it takes standard A19 bulbs and works on a sloped ceiling.

The bar holds two bulbs, each under a wide metal cone with a cream interior. Light drops straight down, so an island or table reads lit without a cluster of bare lamps in view.

• An A-frame with turned finials

  Two wide cone shades hang from a triangular bronze frame, its arms meeting at turned, bulbous finials rather than plain joints. The dark bronze exterior pairs with a pale interior, so each shade reads as a small dark hat with light spilling from underneath.

• Light angles out and down

  Each cone shade is open on the underside and angled wide, so light spreads out and down rather than staying narrow under the bulb. Two shades spaced along the frame cover more of an island or table than a single central light would.

• Hardwired into a junction box

  This pendant is hardwired into a ceiling junction box, so it needs an electrician rather than an outlet. It works on a sloped ceiling as well as a flat one, and assembly is required to put the A-frame and shades together before mounting.

• Chain sets the hang height

  It hangs on a 48-inch adjustable chain, not a rigid rod, so overall height can be set anywhere from 30 inches up to 78.5 inches. That range covers a low hang over an island as well as a taller drop in an open dining room.

• A19 bulbs, not included

  Each of the two sockets is a standard E26 base built for an A19 bulb, and bulbs are not included. Since the shades leave the bulb exposed underneath, a decorative filament bulb shows more than a plain frosted one would. Add a dimmer switch and dimmable bulbs if you want the fixture on a dimmer.

• Dry-rated, not wet-rated

  The fixture carries a dry-location rating and a cETL listing, which covers a dining room, kitchen, or entry that stays dry. A dry rating is not a damp or wet rating, so keep it off a covered porch or anywhere steam or rain could reach the sockets.

• Wipe the bronze, skip ammonia

  Wipe the bronze frame and shades with a dry cloth to clear dust from the finials and the joints where arms meet. Skip ammonia-based cleaners, which can dull the finish, and let the bulbs cool before you dust close to a socket or turn a shade.

• Ships as parts, no bulbs

  The A-frame, both shades, the chain, and the canopy arrive ready to assemble before mounting; bulbs are not included, and neither is a dimmer switch if you want the fixture on one. Plan on an electrician for the hardwired connection once assembly is done.
