• The curved slat back

  Vertical slats curve up into a rounded top rail, a galley silhouette that reads clean from behind as well as from the front. The back stands 13.75 inches above the seat, low enough that a row of these does not block the view across a kitchen or a terrace.

• Assembly and the leveling glides

  Assembly is required and it is short. Screw in leveling glides go into the bottom of each leg, and the spec sheet says to avoid power tools, so use hand tools and take the last turn slowly. Those glides adjust, which is how you level a stool on an uneven paver.

• Seat height and what it fits

  Seat height is 30.25 inches from the floor, which is bar height rather than counter height. Measure from your own floor to the underside of the bar top before you order. A kitchen island at standard counter height wants a shorter stool; this one is built for a raised bar.
