• The footrest pulls out

  The matching ottoman is not an add on. It slides out from under the front rail when you want your feet up and pushes back under the seat when you do not, which takes the pair from 38 inches deep to 57.5 inches and back again.

• Assembly, one person, hand tools

  You assemble it at home. The hardware and the tools are both in the carton, and the listing calls for one person. Use hand tools only for the assembly. The bolts thread straight into wood, and a power driver strips them faster than you can stop it.

• Solid eucalyptus, built for outside

  The frame is solid eucalyptus, a dense hardwood, and the finish is listed as weather resistant and UV resistant. The slatted back and seat let rain drain through and let air move under you instead of holding water. Stainless hardware pins every joint in the frame.
