Wulfern Christiana Eucalyptus Adirondack Chair & Ottoman

A folding chair in solid eucalyptus, sold with its own matching slatted ottoman. The chair holds 300 pounds and the frame folds flat for storage.

• A fanned back and wide arms

  Five wide eucalyptus slats fan up from the seat and curve to a rounded top, so the back leans you into it the way a classic patio chair should. The arms are flat planks deep enough for a glass and a paperback, and the seat is contoured rather than flat.

• The footrest pulls out

  The matching ottoman is not an add on. It slides out from under the front rail when you want your feet up and pushes back under the seat when you do not, which changes how much depth the pair takes on the patio.

• Assembly, one person, hand tools

  You assemble it at home. The hardware and the tools are both in the carton, and one person can do the assembly. Use hand tools only for the assembly. The bolts thread straight into wood, and a power driver strips them faster than you can stop it.

• Solid eucalyptus, built for outside

  The frame is solid eucalyptus, a dense hardwood, and the finish is listed as weather resistant and UV resistant. The slatted back and seat let rain drain through and let air move under you instead of holding water. Stainless hardware pins every joint in the frame.

• How it sits

  The seat sits 15 inches off the ground and measures 20 inches wide by 20.5 inches deep, so this is a low, leaned back seat rather than an upright one. The arms land at 22 inches. Getting out of a seat this comfortable takes a push, which is rather the point.

• What it holds

  The chair carries a weight capacity of 300 pounds. It weighs 38 pounds itself, heavy enough that a gust will not walk it across the patio and light enough that one person can carry it up a step.

• Care and the off season

  Wipe it down with mild soap and water. Eucalyptus greys over time if you leave it bare, so give it a coat of teak oil once a season if you want the brown to stay brown. At the end of the season the chair folds flat and stores against a wall.

• The footprint

  The chair takes 30 inches of width and 38 inches of depth on its own. Leave extra depth if you plan to keep the footrest out, plus a walkway behind that. The ottoman alone is 20 inches wide by 23.5 inches deep.

• What arrives

  One chair and one matching ottoman ship together, with the bolts, washers and tools needed to put them together. Nothing here is sold separately. Cushions, pillows, side tables and planters shown in the photographs are styling and are not included.

Good to know

• Tape a 30 by 38 inch rectangle for the chair, then the ottoman in front of it.
• With the ottoman pulled out the pair runs deeper than the chair alone. Leave a walkway behind it.
• Seat height is 15 inches and the back reclines. Check that against the side table you own.
• Fold the chair flat at the end of the season. The ottoman stores beside it.
