• Upright to laid back

  The back moves through multiple recline settings, from sitting fully upright to laid back for sunbathing, and the padded footrest extends forward from under the seat as it goes. Switching between them takes seconds. Reclined and extended, the chair runs 59.8 inches front to back.

• Assembly at home

  Assembly is required, so the frame arrives flat and in parts with its fixing hardware, and the two cushions are packed separately. Two people recommended: holding the back and the seat frame square while the bolts screw home is much easier with a second pair of hands. Hand tools are enough, and leaving every bolt finger tight until the last part is on saves a fight at the end.

• Care and winter storage

  The cushion covers come off and are machine washable, which is the point of a removable cover on a chair that lives outdoors. Wipe the steel with water and a mild detergent, skip solvents and abrasive pads, and bring the two cushions inside over winter or store them somewhere dry.

• The seat and the cushions

  The seat cushion is 3.15 inches thick over a seat 22.6 inches wide, built as a sandwich of soft fiberfill above and below a high density foam core. Seat depth is 11.8 inches front to back with the footrest closed, the seat frame sits 17 inches up before the cushion goes on, and the arms are 21 inches high.

• Built for the weather

  Powder coated steel is the whole frame, and a baked on coating takes rain and sun better than a wet painted finish does. The cushion covers are polyester rated UV resistant, so the beige is made to hold its tone in direct sun rather than going pale over one summer.

• Weight capacity

  The chair is rated to hold 300 pounds, a static rating that covers ordinary seated use including leaning back hard enough to drop the footrest. The chair itself weighs 54 pounds, so moving it across a deck is a two hand lift rather than something you nudge with a foot.

• What ships

  One recliner and two cushions, the tall back cushion and the deep seat cushion, both in the beige colorway. Nothing else in the photographs is included: the olive tree, the terracotta pot and the paving are styling. It ships ground, and it carries a one year limited warranty.
