• Sand canopy, aluminum arm

  The Sand polyester reads warm against stone and wood patio furniture, and the powder-coated aluminum frame stays light enough to roll once the base is empty. Eight ribs hold the octagon open so the canopy keeps a clean edge when cranked up.

• Crank, tilt, and turn

  A side crank opens and closes the canopy without reaching overhead. Manual tilt tips the shade as the sun moves, and the head rotates a full 360 degrees so you can follow afternoon light without dragging the base.

• Base you fill yourself

  The wheeled base ships empty and fills with sand and water up to about 265 pounds for outdoor stability. Counterweights ride with the carton so the cantilever arm has ballast once the tank is filled, and the wheels let you roll the empty base into place first.

• Built for outdoor weather

  Water and fade resistant polyester with UPF 50 cuts glare and UV on the seating below. The powder-coated aluminum pole and ribs resist rust better than bare steel in rain and dew, and the top vent lets air move through so gusts put less stress on the canopy.

• Assembly at home

  Expect assembly with the included hardware; plan on two people when seating the mast into the base. Fill the base after the frame is upright so you are not hauling a 265 pound tank across the patio. A short person may want a step stool for the upper joints.

• Care and off-season

  Close the canopy and strap it when wind picks up, and rinse dust off with a hose or mild soap. For winter, empty the base, dry the canopy, and store the cover over the folded umbrella indoors or under shelter so ice and standing water do not sit on the fabric.
