• Poly lumber, not painted wood

  The chairs are solid high-density polyethylene, a dense poly lumber moulded partly from recycled plastic. The colour runs all the way through the material instead of sitting on top as paint, so a scuff shows the same white underneath. It will not crack, peel, warp or splinter, and it never needs staining, sealing or repainting.

• Left outside all year

  The material is rated weather resistant and carries UV protection, so the white holds through a summer of direct sun rather than chalking or going yellow. It is impervious to moisture, so rain, snow and coastal damp do not swell or rot it. No annual refinishing, and no need to bring the pair indoors for winter.

• The modern Adirondack shape

  This is the contemporary cut rather than the classic fan back: three wide straight slats across the back, square shoulders and a flat top edge.
