• Slatted back and shaped seat

  Five vertical slats run up to an arched crest rail, and the seat is scooped rather than flat so you do not slide forward as the chair moves. The armrests are 3.1 inches wide and flat on top, wide enough to park a mug on.

• About 20 minutes to build

  Each chair arrives 80 percent assembled at 6 parts and 4 steps, about 20 minutes of work, and the legs are the pieces you bolt on. The hardware is in the carton, but a power drill is required and is not included, so have one ready before you start.

• How it sits

  Seat height is 19.2 inches off the ground, close to a dining chair, and the seat measures 20.2 inches wide by 20.4 inches deep. The back rises 31.8 inches above it, tall enough to rest your head against. No cushion ships with the chairs, so add your own if you want padding.

• Poly lumber, not painted wood

  The frame is HDPE poly lumber. The black runs all the way through the material rather than sitting on top as paint, and UV stabilisers hold it there, so the chairs will not fade, splinter, crack, peel or rot in rain and sun. The spec sheet lists them as rust resistant as well.
