Details
A 41.5 inch wood burning fire bowl in weathered bronze steel, ringed with die cut stars and crescent moons that light up once the fire is going.
The bowl wall is pierced with five point stars and crescent moons in a scattered, deliberately uneven pattern. They are real openings rather than stamped shapes, so daylight passes through them by day and firelight throws the same pattern back across the patio after dark. They also feed air to the flame, which keeps the burn brighter and cleaner.
- Stars and moons, cut clean through
The bowl wall is pierced with five point stars and crescent moons in a scattered, deliberately uneven pattern. They are real openings rather than stamped shapes, so daylight passes through them by day and firelight throws the same pattern back across the patio after dark. They also feed air to the flame, which keeps the burn brighter and cleaner.
- A deep 34 inch bowl
The fire bowl is 34 inches across and 10 inches deep, room for full length split logs rather than the short pieces a shallow pit forces on you. Overall it stands 23 inches tall and 41.5 inches wide once the outer ring is counted, weighs 28.4 pounds, and sits on legs that lift it 5.5 inches off the ground.
- Handle and tool rest
A tubular steel ring encircles the bowl at rim height. Two people can lift the pit by it to move the fire across the yard, and while a fire is going it is the obvious place to hook the poker or rest a pair of tongs clear of the heat.
- What comes in the box
Three things arrive: the fire bowl, a domed woven mesh spark screen 32.25 inches across that drops onto the rim, and a 20 inch fire poker with a pale wooden handle. A cooking grate and a fitted cover are not included with this one.
- What to burn in it
Seasoned hardwood, split and stacked loosely so air can reach it through the cut outs. A bowl this deep will hold a fire for hours, and run time comes down to how tightly you stack it. Skip lighter fluid, treated lumber and construction offcuts, all of which spit and stain the finish.
- Steel with a high temperature finish
The body is steel finished in a rustic bronze patina rated for high temperature, which is what lets it live outside through the season. Sun, rain and heat will deepen the tone over time. That weathering is the finish doing its job, not a fault, though standing water will eventually find any bare steel and start rust.
- Assembly is legs and screws
It arrives flat, so it is not ready out of the box: connect the three legs and the ring with the hardware supplied. Reviewers describe assembly as a short job for one person. No power tools are wanted here, so hand tighten everything and you will not strip the threads.
- Where to put it
On stone, pavers, gravel or bare soil, never a wood deck and never under a pergola, an overhang or low branches. Keep several feet of clearance on every side, keep children and pets back from the rim, watch it in wind and never leave a live fire unattended.
- Care and the off season
Let the ash cool completely, then empty the bowl so it does not sit wet all winter. Wipe the outside down, tip it or store it upside down so rain drains away, and put a cover over it or move it under shelter when the season ends.
