It is machine woven from polypropylene at a low, plush 0.5 inch pile, so the color blocks blend into one field from across the room and separate into distinct squares up close.

  Bleaklow comes in rectangle, round and square options, and every size is built to anchor a full room rather than sit as a small accent. In the largest rectangle, aim for the front legs of the sofa and both chairs to land on the rug; with the round or square option, center it under the seating group so it reads evenly on every side.

• Use a rug pad

  A rug pad is recommended under Bleaklow, particularly on a hard floor, since it adds grip that keeps a busy pattern like this from creeping when a chair is pushed back. The pad also adds a layer of cushion this low pile does not have on its own, and it protects the floor finish underneath.

• It arrives creased, not shedding

  The rug is rated resistant to shedding with normal care, so vacuuming will not pull the color apart the way it might on a cheaper pile. It does ship factory rolled or folded, and the creases that come from tight packaging typically flatten within 3 to 7 days on their own. Rolling it pattern side up and massaging the fold lines speeds that along.
