A soft ombre from muted green to ivory, machine woven from stain resistant polypropylene so it holds up under daily traffic and a curious pet.

The color runs from a muted sage green at one edge to soft ivory at the other, an ombre effect that reads as light rather than pattern against plain walls or furniture.

  The color moves in a soft ombre, a muted sage green at one end fading gradually into ivory at the other, built up in short flecked strokes rather than a flat dye job. There's no border or medallion, just the gradient running the length of the rug.

• Vacuum regularly, spot clean spills

  Vacuum regularly to keep grit from working down into the base of the pile, and blot any spill with a clean cloth right away rather than letting it sit. Skip the wet mop and heavy scrubbing on the jute backing; it is not made to be soaked through.

• Low polypropylene pile, jute back

  The face is polypropylene, machine woven at a 0.35 inch pile height, low enough to sit flush under most doors. Polypropylene fiber does not absorb liquid the way a natural fiber does, so a spill tends to sit on top long enough to wipe up. The backing underneath is jute.

• A pad adds grip and cushion

  The jute backing already grips a hard floor better than a plain synthetic backing would, but a rug pad still helps: it stops creep on a slicker floor like tile, and it keeps the corners from curling upward over time. A pad is not required here the way it would be on a smooth-backed rug, just a good idea.

• No shedding, ships flat rolled

  Polypropylene pile does not shed like a wool rug, so there is very little loose fiber to vacuum away when it is new. It ships rolled and can hold a slight curl at the edges for the first day or two; laying it flat under furniture settles it quickly.
