For anything that lingers, spot clean with mild soap and water, or call a professional cleaner for a deeper wash. Rotate it now and then so sunlight wears it evenly.

• Machine-woven polypropylene, low pile

  Yarrowford is machine woven from polypropylene, a synthetic fiber built to hold its color and shrug off wear. The spec sheet lists a 0.3 inch pile, which is the height of the woven yarn itself; add the thin cotton backing underneath and the whole rug still sits low and flat, slim enough to clear most interior doors.

• A pad still helps

  Yarrowford does not include a rug pad. The cotton backing has a bit more grip than a fully synthetic backing would, but it is not a substitute for one on hardwood or tile: add a pad underneath to stop the rug creeping when a chair is pushed back, cut down on bunching at the edges, and give the low pile some cushion underfoot.

• No shedding, ships rolled

  Unlike a hand-tufted wool rug, Yarrowford does not shed: the polypropylene fibers are machine woven in rather than punched loose, so there is no fuzz to vacuum up in the first weeks. It still ships rolled for the trip, so unroll it and let it settle flat for a day before you judge how the corners and edges lie.

  Yarrowford comes in ten sizes across rectangles, rounds and squares, starting at a 9' x 12' rectangle or a 10' round and running up to a 12' x 18' rectangle. Under a dining table, size up so the chairs stay on the rug even pulled back from the table; in a living room, rest the sofa's front legs on the rug to anchor the seating.

• From entry to bedroom

  Yarrowford's cool, low-contrast pattern moves easily between rooms: it takes the daily foot traffic of a living room or entryway in stride, holds steady under a dining table where chairs scrape in and out, and turns quiet and soft-looking in a bedroom. The durable polypropylene pile does not show wear the way a delicate weave would in any of these spots.

• The rug only, rolled

  Yarrowford arrives as the rug itself, rolled and wrapped for shipping; no rug pad, corner grips or extra trim comes with it. If the floor calls for a pad, order one separately in the same size as the rug, since it is not included in the box.
