Eight lights hide inside a 24-inch ring wrapped in two rows of clear crystal spheres. Hardwired, semi-flush mounted, and rated for dry rooms only.

• Close to the ceiling

  Four curved brass mounting rods lift the ring up against the ceiling rather than dropping it on a chain, so the overall hanging height is about 14 inches. That close mount suits standard eight-foot ceilings, hallways and bedrooms where a long pendant would be in the way.

• Hardwired, so plan the wiring

  This is a hardwired fixture, not a plug-in one. It mounts to a ceiling junction box behind the round canopy, and the power must be off at the breaker before anything is connected. If you are not comfortable working in a ceiling box, have an electrician install it.

• Two people, and patience

  Assembly is required and two people make it much easier: one to hold the ring against the ceiling while the other wires and secures it. The crystal spheres seat onto the frame individually, which is the slow part of the job, so give yourself unhurried time rather than rushing it.

• Bulbs and dimming

  Eight sockets take candelabra-base E12 bulbs at 40 watts maximum each, and bulbs are not included. The fixture is dimmable, but only if you fit dimmable bulbs and wire it to a dimmer switch; neither the bulbs nor the dimmer come in the box.

• Dry rooms only

  The fixture is ETL listed and rated for dry locations at 110 volts. That covers a dining room, entry, bedroom or living room ceiling. Keep it out of a bathroom, a laundry, a covered porch or anywhere else it could meet damp air or direct moisture.

• What arrives in the box

  One semi-flush mount ships with its canopy, four curved mounting rods, the crystal ring, and mounting hardware. Bulbs are not included, and no dimmer switch is included either. Unpack the crystal spheres carefully and check them against the parts list before you start.

• Keeping the crystal clear

  Dust is what dulls this fixture, because every sphere is a curved glass surface. Wipe the spheres and the brass with a dry, soft cloth, and clean them with the power off once they are cool. Skip sprays and household solvents, which can haze the glass and mark the finish.
