Two linen shades sit on a dual-arm wall plate in rubbed brass. Hardwired and dry-rated, it takes candelabra bulbs and can mount shade-up or shade-down.

Two off-white linen empire shades sit on dual vertical stems from a circular backplate. Each shade is 8.3 inches tall and 5.5 inches across. Light comes through the linen as a soft wash.

• Two brass stems, one plate

  Two slim brass stems rise from a single round wall plate, joined partway up by a straight crossbar, each stem topped with a shallow bobeche and a tapered linen shade. The stems continue below the crossbar to a turned brass foot, giving the whole piece a traditional candlestick look on the wall.

• Soft light through linen

  Light glows through the two off-white linen shades as a soft, warm wash instead of a bright point, so it suits a hallway or a dining wall rather than lighting a whole room. Hang one on each side of a mirror or a doorway for symmetry, shade-up for light on the ceiling above, or shade-down for a softer pool near eye level.

• Hardwired into the wall

  This is a hardwired fixture, not a plug-in lamp, so an electrician wires the backplate directly to a junction box inside the wall; there is no visible cord. It mounts either shade-up or shade-down, so you can flip the orientation to suit the spot before it goes on the wall for good.

• Height and reach on the wall

  Overall height from the top shade to the bottom finial is 24 inches, and the fixture projects 7 inches out from the wall once mounted, so give it that much clearance near a doorway or a narrow hall. The round backplate itself is 5.1 inches across, mounted flush over the wall box.

• Candelabra bulbs, not included

  Each of the two sockets takes a standard E12 candelabra-base bulb, B11 candle shape, up to 60 watts, and neither is included, so plan on two before you turn it on. It is dimmable, but only with a dimmable bulb in each socket and a compatible dimmer switch, both sold separately.

• Dry rated, cETL listed

  This fixture is dry-rated, built for enclosed indoor rooms rather than a bathroom near a shower or an uncovered porch. It carries cETL and cUL listing, and dry-rated is still the base tier, a step short of a damp or wet-location rating.

• Cleaning the brass and linen

  Dust the brass stems and the linen shades with a soft, dry cloth, and spot clean the fabric rather than soaking it. Skip metal polish or household cleaners on the rubbed brass finish, since they can strip the warm tone, and turn off power at the switch before wiping near a bulb.

• What is in the box

  The two-arm brass body, backplate, both linen shades, and mounting hardware all come in the box, ready to wire to your wall junction box. Bulbs are not included, so plan on two E12 candelabra bulbs, and a dimmer switch if you want the fixture to dim.
