Marnau Molenez Dome Pendant

A 31.5-inch iron dome in black, gold-leafed inside. Three E26 sockets hang on a cord up to 96 inches. Hardwired, dry-rated, and listed for a sloped ceiling.

The shade is a 31.5-inch iron hemisphere. Outside is a dark, textured black. Inside is gold leaf, so the light that comes down is warm. It hangs on a thin black cord from a matching canopy.

• A dome with a gold throat

  A deep black iron dome hangs solo on a thin black cord, its outside finished in a textured matte black and its inside lined in gold leaf. From below, the gold interior catches the eye first, a warm ring under a dark, solid shell.

• Warm light bounces off gold

  The three bulbs sit hidden up inside the dome, so the gold-leaf interior bounces their light down and out in a warm pool rather than shining bare. Centered low over a table, it lights the surface directly below it more than the room at large.

• Hardwired into a junction box

  This pendant is hardwired into a ceiling junction box, so it needs an electrician rather than a lamp plug. It is compatible with a sloped ceiling as well as a flat one, and assembly is a one-person job before it goes up.

• Cord sets the hang height

  It hangs on a black cord instead of a chain or rod, adjustable from about 17.71 inches up to 96.45 inches of overall height. Set it low and close over a table, or let the cord out further for a taller entry or stairwell.

• E26 bulbs, not included

  Each of the three sockets is a standard E26 base rated up to 40 watts, and bulbs are not included. Because the dome hides the bulbs from direct view, a plain bulb works fine here. Dimming needs a dimmable bulb in every socket plus a separate dimmer switch, both bought on their own.

• Dry-rated, not wet-rated

  The fixture carries a dry-location rating and an ETL listing, which covers a dining room, living room, or entry that stays dry. A dry rating is not a damp or wet rating, so keep it off a covered porch or anywhere steam or rain could reach the socket.

• Wipe the dome, mind the gold

  Wipe the dome with a dry cloth to clear dust from the textured black exterior, and reach inside carefully to dust the gold-leaf interior without scrubbing it, since the leaf can wear with abrasive cleaning. Turn the fixture off and let the bulbs cool before you clean near a socket.

• Ships as parts, no bulbs

  The dome, cord, and canopy arrive ready to assemble as a one-person job; bulbs are not included, and neither is a dimmer switch if you want the fixture on one. Plan on an electrician for the hardwired connection once the fixture itself is together.
