Marnau Tascon Flush Mount

Three lights sit in a 15-inch hammered-glass drum. Hardwired, flush to the ceiling, and damp-rated, it takes standard A19 bulbs and works on a dimmer.

The fixture holds three bulbs behind curved hammered-glass panels, 15 inches across. Light comes through the texture as a soft wash, so the room reads lit without a cluster of bare lamps in view.

• Curved glass, gapped panels

  Curved panels of clear hammered glass wrap the drum with small gaps between them, held by a matte black frame with one bar crossing the center. The rippled texture breaks up the view through the glass instead of showing a smooth, flat surface.

• Rippled light, not flat

  The hammered texture scatters each bulb's light into a rippled, uneven pattern rather than one smooth glow, so the ceiling above and the room below both catch broken light instead of a flat wash. All three bulbs stay visible through the gaps between panels.

• Hardwired, flush to the ceiling

  This fixture mounts flush against the ceiling and is hardwired into a junction box there, so it needs an electrician rather than a plug-in lamp. Assembly is required to fit the glass panels into the frame before the whole thing goes up.

• Fixed low profile, no chain

  Unlike a hanging pendant, this sits flush with no chain or rod, so overall height from the ceiling is fixed at 6.88 inches. That low profile fits a hallway, closet, laundry room, or bathroom where a lower ceiling would put a hanging fixture too close to head height.

• A19 bulbs, not included

  Each of the three sockets is a standard E26 base built for an A19 bulb, 60 watts max, and bulbs are not included. Because the glass panels leave gaps at the seams, the bulbs stay partly visible, so a clear or vintage bulb looks better than a frosted one. It is dimmer compatible, but that still takes a dimmable bulb and a separate dimmer switch.

• Damp-rated, not wet-rated

  This fixture carries a damp rating with ETL listing, a step up from dry-rated, so it can go in a bathroom outside direct shower spray or on a covered porch. A damp rating is still not a wet rating, so keep it out of a shower stall or anywhere it could take direct water.

• Wipe the glass, dust the frame

  Wipe the black frame and the hammered glass with a dry cloth to clear dust from the textured surface, and use a barely damp cloth for anything that does not lift with dry dusting. Turn the fixture off and let the bulbs cool before you dust close to a socket.

• Ships as parts, no bulbs

  The frame, canopy, and hammered glass panels arrive ready to assemble before mounting; bulbs are not included, and neither is a dimmer switch if you want the fixture on one. Plan on an electrician for the hardwired connection once assembly is done.
