Bremhaus Brue Area Rug

The medallion field is printed soft, so the pattern reads as age rather than ornament. Gray and charcoal tracery over off white, with mustard warming the field just enough to keep it from going cold.

• Machine woven, low pile

  Brue is machine woven from polypropylene at a low, even pile of 0.37 inches, with no border band, just a thin flat edge instead of fringe. There is no backing on the underside: the woven face is the whole rug, which keeps it thin enough to lie flat but means it has nothing of its own gripping the floor.

• Room sized, not an accent

  All three sizes are room sized rectangles, not small accent pieces, so measure the seating group before choosing. In a living room, set the sofa's front legs on the rug to anchor the seating; under a dining table, leave enough rug beyond the table that a chair stays on it when pushed back to stand.

• A pad matters here

  This rug has no backing of its own, so a rug pad matters more here than on a rug with a gripping layer already built in. The pad stops the rug from slipping on a hard floor, adds the cushion a low pile does not have on its own, and protects the floor finish from direct contact with the weave.

• No shed, a short settle

  Polypropylene does not shed loose fiber the way a wool pile does, so there is no fluff underfoot in the first weeks. It ships rolled, so it arrives with creases and a curled edge. Lay it flat, weight the corners with furniture, and give it about a week to settle before judging how flat it sits.

• Everyday care

  Blot a spill right away rather than letting it sit, since the stain-resistant polypropylene keeps liquid on the surface long enough to lift instead of soaking in. Vacuum it regularly on a low setting, and spot clean marks with a mild cleaner and a clean, damp cloth rather than saturating the pile.

  The rug arrives rolled in a single carton with no assembly beyond unrolling it and letting it settle flat. A rug pad and any furniture or decor shown in the photos are not included, so measure the room against the size chosen before it arrives.

• A faded, layered palette
