  This rug is power loomed from polypropylene at a pile of 0.31 inches, low enough that a door swings clear and a dining chair slides back without catching on the weave. A latex backing on the underside grips a hard floor, and there is no fringe at the edge to catch underfoot.

  A rug pad is not required on this one: the latex backing already grips a hard floor on its own. A thin pad still adds a little cushion underfoot and helps the rug lie flatter overall, especially on the larger size, so it is worth adding if you want the extra comfort rather than because the rug needs the grip.
