• Waves carved into the pile

  Diagonal waves ripple across the rug edge to edge, carved directly into the shag so the pattern reads as texture as much as color. The grooves catch light and shadow differently than the surrounding pile, which is what gives a solid-color rug this much visible depth.

• Material and pile

  The face is polypropylene, machine woven into a shag 1.18 inches deep, with the wave pattern carved into that pile rather than printed on top. That carving is what creates the groove lines you can see and feel running across the surface.

• Choosing your size

  It comes in four options. Choose 6 by 8 feet for the smallest rectangular footprint, or 6 by 9 feet for one more foot of length at the same width. A 6 foot 7 inch round suits a circular layout, and 8 by 10 feet gives the broadest coverage of the group.

• Use a rug pad

  Fold a corner back and the backing is a tight, flat, tan woven layer, not foam, so it has little cushion of its own beyond the shag on top. A pad is recommended and not included; it keeps that backing from grinding against a hard floor and stops the rug from creeping underfoot.

• Settling in

  Being polypropylene rather than wool, this shag will not keep shedding loose fiber once the first vacuum passes are done. Give a new rug this deep a few days flat on the floor before judging how it lies, since the pile needs a little time to relax fully into place.

• Where it works

  It's rated for indoor use and safe over a heated floor, so a room warmed from below is not ruled out. It suits a living room, a bedroom, a dining room, an entryway or a home office, exactly as shown here, though a dining chair takes more effort to push back across a pile this deep than it would on a flatweave.

• Everyday care

  Vacuum with suction only; a beater bar or rotating brush can catch on the carved groove lines and pull at them over time. Spot clean a spill with a damp cloth rather than letting it sit, and expect this to be a rug you vacuum often rather than one you deep clean at home.

• What ships

  The rug arrives on its own, exactly as shown; a rug pad and the furniture or decor styled around it in these photos are not included. This one carries no warranty. The largest, 8 by 10 foot size weighs about 53 pounds, so plan for two people to move it once it is unpacked.
