• Chunky, nubby texture

  Thick ropes of jute weave into a nubby, substantial texture with real dimension, not a flat printed surface. The tone runs wheat to tan with natural variation fiber to fiber, so no two strands look quite the same.

• No pattern, no two alike

  There is no printed pattern and no border beyond the woven edge, so the texture and the natural color variation in the fiber are the whole design. Small irregularities and the occasional loose end come from the handmade weave, not from a defect.

• Vacuum gently, never soak

  Vacuum regularly on a low-power setting, working from a few different angles to lift dust out of the weave without pulling at it. Trim any loose thread with scissors instead of tugging, since pulling can unravel the weave further. Blot a spill right away; never soak it, since jute holds water and is slow to dry.

• Jute, hand flatwoven

  This rug is jute, a natural plant fiber, hand woven flat rather than tufted or knotted into a pile. There is no cut pile to crush or mat down: the texture comes from the thickness of the weave itself, and small knots or slubs are part of the fiber, not a flaw.
