Grevane Torridon Tufted Wingback Bed

The Torridon is the bed guests stop to touch. Deep button tufting across a tall wingback headboard, cream velvet that looks soft from across the room, and a run of silver nailheads to catch the light. It reads expensive because the details are doing the work.

Underneath, it's built plainly: a manufactured wood, metal, and MDF frame rated to 900 lb, four center support legs, and a slat kit in the box so you can skip the box spring. The back of the headboard is finished too, which means it doesn't have to hide against a wall.

Assembly is a one-evening job, and the tools come in the box.

• Camelback, button tufted

  Deep button tufting pulls the cream velvet into diamond folds across the whole headboard, camelback in shape with a wing turning forward at each side. Nailhead trim traces the curved top edge and both wings, and the footboard repeats the same tufting and trim at the foot of the bed.

• Two people, tools included

  Assembly is required, and all the tools it takes ship with the bed, so there is nothing to buy first. Plan on two people for the lift: the Queen frame alone weighs 105.6 pounds, the King 127, and the California King 123.6.

• Slats included, no box spring

  A manufactured wood slat kit ships with the frame and carries the mattress directly, so there is no box spring to add for any size. Center support legs back up the middle, and the frame itself is manufactured wood, metal and MDF underneath the velvet.

• Queen, King or Cal King

  This bed comes in three sizes: Queen, King and California King, all sharing the same tufted, nailhead silhouette. Whichever mattress size you choose, the frame around it holds steady at the same 51.5 inch overall height, so only the width changes underneath you.

• 51.5 inches, 4.7 to spare

  Overall height holds at 51.5 inches for the headboard, in every size, while the footboard rises to 25.2 inches at the foot of the bed. Underneath, clearance is 4.7 inches, a slim gap rather than storage room, and the back of the headboard is finished if you want it away from a wall.

• Velvet, foam, nailhead trim

  The upholstery is a cream velvet over a foam-filled headboard and footboard, both about 8.7 inches deep at the panel. Underneath, the frame mixes manufactured wood, metal and MDF, and nailhead trim in a bright metal finish traces the curved edges.

• 900 pounds, every size

  Weight capacity holds at 900 pounds across Queen, King and California King alike, carried down through the center support legs and the manufactured wood, metal and MDF frame beneath the slats. That figure covers the mattress, bedding and sleepers together.

• Wipe clean, mind the buttons

  Wipe the velvet with a dry cloth for everyday dust, working around the tufted buttons rather than pressing hard on them. Blot spills right away instead of rubbing, and use a light vacuum with a brush attachment to lift dust out of the folds between buttons.

• What comes with the bed

  The box includes the headboard, the footboard, the frame rails, the center support legs and the manufactured wood slat kit, along with the hardware and tools to assemble it. The mattress is not included, so plan around whichever size you choose.
