Grevane Kintail Velvet Channel Tufted Bed

• Straight channels, matching footboard

  Vertical channels run top to bottom across the headboard in even, straight columns rather than a diamond or chevron pattern, with a flat wing standing full height at each side. The same channel pattern repeats across a tall, upholstered footboard at the foot of the bed, so the two ends read as a matched pair in cream velvet.

  This frame goes together quickly: the maker rates it at about 30 minutes with two adults working together, since the headboard and footboard panels are large and easier to lift with a second set of hands. All hardware and tools needed ship with the frame, so there is nothing extra to buy before you start.

• Twelve slats, no box spring

  Twelve slats in manufactured wood span the frame, with two center support legs holding up the middle so the deck does not sag under regular use. Because the slat kit carries the mattress directly, a box spring is not required and would only add height without adding support.

  This bed is offered in Queen and King only, both built to the same 48 inch overall height and 85 inch length, with the width changing between the two sizes. The maker recommends a mattress between 10 and 15 inches thick, so check your mattress against that range before you order, since a much taller mattress can crowd the channel tufted headboard.

  Overall height runs 48 inches at the headboard, with the panel standing 21.9 inches tall and 5.9 inches deep against the wall. The footboard adds another tall edge at 23 inches, so measure clearance at the foot too if space is tight. Because the back is finished, you can float this bed away from a wall or under a sloped ceiling without an unfinished panel showing.

  Cream velvet with a soft sheen upholsters the headboard, footboard, and rails, with foam fill underneath giving the tufted channels a padded, cushioned feel rather than a flat, hard press. The frame itself is manufactured wood and MDF, an engineered build rather than solid lumber, chosen to keep the channel seams straight and stable.

  Both the Queen and the King carry the same weight capacity, 1,000 pounds, so sizing up to the King does not cost any support. That figure covers the mattress and the people sleeping on it together, not extra weight stacked on top, and the two center support legs are part of what gets the frame to that number.

• Spot clean, wipe spills fast

  This velvet has a tight, polyester weave that resists a spill more than a natural fiber would, so wipe up any liquid before it has a chance to soak in. Vacuum on a low, brush free setting to lift dust from the channels, and spot clean marks with a mild, water based cleaner and a soft cloth rather than a steam cleaner.
