Grevane Scalpay Solid Wood Boucle Bed

Solid wood holds the line and boucle softens it. Sit back with a book and the taupe headboard meets your shoulders instead of a hard edge. The texture is the part you notice every night, a little nubby under your hand, warmer than a flat woven panel.

The frame is solid wood, the headboard is upholstered in polyester boucle, and a manufactured wood slat kit comes in the box, so the mattress rests on the frame with no box spring underneath.

• Boucle headboard, wood frame

  The headboard is a plain boucle panel in taupe, its nubby, looped texture different from anything smooth in the room. Natural wood posts frame each side and rise just past the fabric, echoing the round, tapered legs below and keeping the whole piece feeling light rather than heavy.

• Assembly, tools in the box

  Assembly is required, and the hardware and tools needed to put the frame together ship inside the box with it. The headboard posts, frame rails and center support legs are the main pieces, all sized to bolt together with basic tools.

• No box spring, ever

  A manufactured wood slat kit ships with the frame and carries the mattress directly, so there is no box spring to add underneath. Center support legs back up the middle, three of them on Twin, Full and Queen, six on the King, and the frame is also built to work with an adjustable base.

• Twin to King, one height

  The bed comes in four sizes, Twin, Full, Queen and King, and the frame holds the same 47.2 inch height across all of them. Width is what changes with the mattress: 42.5 inches for Twin, 58.3 for Full, 64.4 for a queen mattress, and 79.9 for a king.

• Ten inches to slide under

  Every size of this bed stands 47.2 inches tall from floor to the top of the headboard. Underneath, clearance is a generous 10 inches, enough room for slim under bed storage boxes, and the back of the headboard is finished, so it also works pulled away from a wall.

• Solid wood, boucle, foam

  The frame is solid wood, rubberwood on the Twin, Full and King sizes, with round, tapered legs shaped from the same wood. The headboard is foam padded and wrapped in boucle upholstery, a looped polyester weave that reads soft and a little rustic against the plain wood.

• Capacity moves with the size

  Weight capacity climbs with the mattress size: 500 pounds for Twin, 700 for Full, 900 for Queen, and 1,000 pounds for King. Each number reflects the frame fully loaded, mattress, bedding and sleepers together, not a number to plan around for anything stacked on top.

• Vacuum the boucle loops

  Boucle holds onto dust in its loops more than a flat weave does, so a quick vacuum with a low brush attachment keeps it looking fresh. Blot spills right away with a clean cloth instead of rubbing, and spot clean with a fabric safe cleaner for anything that lingers.

• What comes in the box

  The box includes the upholstered headboard with its wood posts, the frame rails, the round tapered legs, the center support legs and the manufactured wood slat kit, plus the hardware and tools to put it together. The mattress is not included and is chosen separately for whichever size you order.
