  Vacuum regularly to keep grit from settling into the base of the pile. Blot any spill right away with a clean, dry cloth instead of rubbing it in, and keep water to a light touch: the jute backing underneath is not meant to be soaked through.

• Soft polypropylene pile, jute back

  The pile is polypropylene, machine woven at a 0.39 inch height, dense enough to feel soft and a little plush underfoot rather than flat. It stays low enough to clear most doors, and the backing underneath is a woven jute.

• A pad adds grip, cushion

  A rug pad is not included. The jute backing has some natural grip on a hardwood or tile floor, but a pad still keeps the corners from curling up and stops the rug creeping when it gets walked on often, plus it adds a little more cushion to a fairly low pile.

• Little shedding, settles in fast

  Machine woven polypropylene does not shed loose fiber the way a wool pile can, so there is not much to vacuum away when the rug is new. It ships rolled and can hold a slight curl at the edges at first; laying it flat under furniture for a day or two settles it.

• Four sizes, real room scale

  This rug comes in four sizes: a 10 by 13 foot rectangle, a 12 foot round, a 12 foot square, and a 12 by 18 foot rectangle. The smallest is already sized for a full room rather than a small accent, and the round and square 12 foot options cover the same amount of floor, just a different shape, so pick whichever shape leaves more floor open at the corners.
