A platform bed you want to touch on the way past. The Vatersay wraps its headboard and rails in boucle, so your hand finds nap in the morning, not a hard edge. No box spring goes underneath, so the mattress rests on the slat kit and more floor stays in view.

Under the boucle, microfiber / microsuede cover sits a solid + manufactured wood, plywood / laminate board frame, with slats rated to 800 lb. Headboard and slat kit ship in the box; assembly happens at home.

• Boucle to the floor

  The headboard arches softly at the top, a double piped line stitched just inside the curve for a frame-within-a-frame look. The same nubby, looped boucle wraps the whole platform base down to the floor, with no legs breaking the line anywhere.

• Assembly at home

  Assembly is required, and the tools and hardware it takes are packed in the carton with the frame. The headboard, base and slat kit are the main pieces, sized to bolt together without any specialty tools beyond what ships with it.

• Wood slats, metal supports

  The included slat kit is solid and manufactured wood, reinforced with metal slat supports and built-in center support legs underneath, and it carries the mattress directly. No box spring is required for any size, so you skip both the cost and the extra height one would add.

• Twin, Full, Queen or Cal King

  This bed spans four sizes: Twin, Full, Queen and California King, skipping a standard King. Twin takes 40.5 inches of wall, and California King takes 72.3, with Full and Queen sized in between as the mattress gets wider.

• Wrapped to the floor

  Every size of this bed stands 43.3 inches tall, one fixed height whether you choose Twin or California King. The base carries its boucle covering all the way down to the floor, with no legs and essentially no clearance underneath, so there is no room for anything stored below it.

• Boucle, microsuede, solid wood

  The upholstery is a cream boucle fabric blended with microfiber and microsuede, chosen for a nubby, soft texture over high-resiliency foam padding. Underneath, the frame is solid and manufactured wood with plywood and laminate board, and every rounded edge keeps the silhouette smooth rather than square.

• 600 to 800 pounds

  Weight capacity is 600 pounds on Twin and rises to 800 for Full and Queen. California King ships without a published number, so ask before assuming it matches the others if you are choosing that size. Each figure covers the mattress, bedding and sleepers together.

• Vacuum first, spot clean

  Vacuum the boucle with a low brush attachment to lift dust out of the loops before it builds up. Spot clean marks with a fabric safe cleaner and a light touch, and blot any spill right away rather than rubbing it into the texture.

• What comes in the carton

  The carton includes the headboard, the platform base, the slat kit with its metal supports and center legs, and the hardware and tools to assemble it. The mattress is not included, so plan around whichever size you choose, keeping in mind California King ships without a listed weight rating.

Good to know

• Queen needs a 60.2″ by 81.1″ patch of floor. Add walkway room on the sides you use.
• 43.3″ tall in all four sizes. A sill or a picture over the bed has to clear that.
• California King is 72.3″ across. Measure door and stair turns before delivery day.
