The frame is metal, with center support legs underneath: three on Full and Queen, eight on King. Every size, Full through King, holds up to 800 lb., and the legs leave 8 inches of clearance under the frame. Assembly happens at home with the tools included, and the frame carries a one-year full warranty.

• One velvet line, corner to corner

  Vertical channels run the full width of the headboard and continue down the side rail without a break, so the bed reads as one piece rather than a headboard bolted to a plain frame. A wing curves back softly at each corner of the headboard for a touch of enclosure.

  The frame is offered in three sizes: Full, Queen and King. On the full-size bed, the interior width for the mattress is 50 inches, and on Queen, the headboard itself measures 60 inches wide without counting the wings, so the mattress sits well inside the frame with room to spare.

  The frame itself stands 13.6 inches to the top of the platform, where the mattress sits, well under the 47 inch overall height that includes the headboard. Underneath, the legs leave 8 inches of open clearance, room for a slim under bed box but not deep bins.

  The upholstery is a high-quality cream velvet, soft against the skin and finished on the back as well as the front. Underneath, the frame is metal, carrying wood slats rather than a wood platform, a mix that keeps the silhouette slim without losing support.
